CNIPA PUGLIA

The Italian Organisation, C.N.I.P.A. PUGLIA, is a historical training school, which has operated in the Puglia Region for years now, with offices located both in big centres and in smaller ones. The Puglia Region is a historically social-economic disadvantaged area with complex problems which are hard to solve. This territory presents, except for a few urban areas, a development index which is lower, not only at a national level but also in comparison with the rest of the Italian southern regions included in the Convergence area. The population is damaged by this, but women and men, with an evident educational gap and who intend to enter, or re-enter the labour market, are they that suffer most from this situation. The situation gets even worse when we speak about people living in the suburbs in discomforts and privations conditions like migrants. With its projects, C.N.I.P.A. PUGLIA, in the last ten years, has investigated the problems to people living in disadvantaged areas and at the risk of criminality. The results are discouraging: high unemployment rates, low education rates and low use of training and working opportunities. A lack of communication of the available services among the population must be also pointed out. It is clear that if the Apulia Region doesn’t improve its human resources policies, these problems will even get worse and the gap between this area and the rest of Italy will widen. It is absolutely necessary to develop learning and training skills, as indicated by the EU guidelines, to aim at the improve the professional skills required by the local productive system, to ensure full equality of access and to promote the continuous learning among these populations. C.N.I.P.A. PUGLIA goes exactly in this direction: this Body, in fact, has been working for years by professional training to the real regional needs and always is aiming at the inclusion of people at risk of social and cultural alienation. Its target groups are minors at risk, students having educational disadvantage, geographical and social disadvantage, immigrants, disadvantaged women, jobless adult women and men with educational and training gap, etc. Its current professional training is, also, addressed to people with an obvious educational gap that no find work. According to principles of accreditation for professional bodies, CNIPA Puglia works in four macro typologies of

Vocational Training: Compulsory Education: As provided by 144/99 Act, vocational educational training for disadvantage young with the aim to return they at school or address they to the labour market. The Body is a leader, especially in the training centre of Lecce, for the highest rate of reemployment of young people at work.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: Continuous Training: training for employees of companies for their professional updating.

VET for people in disadvantaged areas and at social risk: C.N.I.P.A. PUGLIA careful to the needs of disadvantaged people, offers its services to drug-addicted people, alcoholics, exprisoners, prisoners, migrants and refugees.

For its activities, C.N.I.P.A. Puglia has seven schools in the major cities of the Region. Within the scope of our organisation, 35 teachers from different branches work. We have realized that schools are living difficulties in meeting the needs of children who live in disadvantaged areas. In this information era with education students should grow up according to the needs of 21st century. As the project concerns the out of school activities for gifted students, we wanted to take part in the project to make our students benefit the outcomes of the project. We have giftes students in our schools, we try to do different activities with them. We wanted to share our applications as well as seeing others and Italy is famous for its historical attractions. So we think we are very suitable for using museum in education.
